“Mohabat News” - Javad Amini, a Christian citizen who was arrested in Nowshahr by IRGC intelligence officers and transferred to a detention center in Sari, was released on Wednesday, December 27, after ten days of detention on a bail of one billion tomans. Farzaneh Ahmadi, Mr. Amini’s wife, has been interrogated by security officers many times during this time.
According to the Article 18 organization, Mr. Amini was arrested on November 17, along with his uncle and his wife, Farzaneh. Javad Amini was transferred to the IRGC detention center, but the Christian citizen’s wife and uncle were released after a few hours. Mrs. Amini and her husband’s uncle found out that their home had been completely ransacked and searched.
Minutes after Ms. Ahmadi returned home, security officers raided the Christian family's residence again and, while searching, told Ms. Ahmadi that they were looking for Christian books and her husband's phone.
In the following days, the officers found and confiscated a number of books and textbooks that Javad Amini had collected over several years of studying Christian theology.
The Islamic State's security officers have repeatedly raided Christian homes and house churches and confiscated the Bible and other Christian books in Persian. The confiscated Bibles have been used as evidence against Christians in court on several occasions.
According to reports, Farzaneh Ahmadi was interrogated by both the Ministry of Intelligence and the Revolutionary Guards' intelligence officers, and was subjected to severe psychological and emotional pressure. The interrogators addressed her with sexually explicit language.
According to reports received by Article 18, at the same time as Mr. Amini was re-arrested, two other female Christian converts were also arrested in Nowshahr and interrogated by IRGC intelligence officers.
On December 27, Mr. Amini and the other arrested converts were released on bail of one billion Tomans each.
The hearing of the charges against the 12 Christian converts was held this time in Mr. Amini’s absence. The court hearing, which was held on December 27, examined the indictments issued against the 12 converts living in Nowshahr, but the outcome of the trial is not yet known.
