According to a U.S.-based Christian organization, three female Christian converts who had been held in Evin Prison for 40 days are set to be tried on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.

Reports indicate that Shilan Orami Nejad, Razieh (Maral) Kahzadi, and Zahra (Yalda) Heidari were arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents in the early hours of May 9. The agents allegedly claimed, "without any explanation," that they had orders to search the homes and seize personal belongings, including books, pamphlets, mobile phones, and computers.

After their arrest, the detained Christians were taken to an unknown location, leaving their families in the dark about their whereabouts for 40 days. Eventually, after the interrogation period ended, they were able to contact their families last week and inform them that they were being held in Evin Prison.

Article 18, another organization, has not yet independently verified this report but has reached out to the Christian organization for further information.

According to the same reports, the detained converts were able to meet their families last week. However, they remain without access to legal representation, and the charges against them are still unknown.

Hamid Hatami from the Christian organization stated in an interview with Voice of America that when the families met the detained women in prison, "they were not in good physical condition."

Additionally, the organization reported yesterday that two of the detained Christians, Shilan Orami Nejad and Zahra Heidari, have been temporarily released on bail, while Maral remains in custody.

The court session is scheduled for Sunday, July 2, at Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Mohammadreza Amouzad, the new head of this branch.
